Pulsed Dye Laser

Tired of looking flushed or sunburned when you are not? The pulsed dye laser safely and effectively treats disorders of the blood vessels, which cause redness in the skin. This laser is widely used to treat rosacea, hemangiomas, port wine stain birthmarks, and various types of scars. The pulsed dye laser delivers an intense but gentle burst of light into selectively targeted areas of the skin. No anesthetics are required, but they may be used. Patients typically experience redness or mild swelling in the treated area immediately following treatment. This usually goes away within a few hours. Occasionally purpura, a laser bruise, may occur. Purpura is transient and usually disappears in 5-7 days. One or more treatments may be recommended, depending on the skin condition being treated.
