Microlipoinjections

Looking for a natural filler? One of the newest approaches to address the effects of aging is facial recontouring using one’s own body fat. Trained under renowned dermatologist Dr. Suzan Obagi, Dr. Kranendonk is one of the few dermatologists in the country who offers this procedure. Autologous fat transplantation can be used to restore volume in the face and hands and can be used to treat specific folds and wrinkles in the face. The advantage of this technique is that one is using their own natural filler, which creates a soft, youthful look and the results can be long lasting, up to 5 years or more. Dr. Kranendonk and Dr. Obagi recently published their technique in the Journal of Dermatologic Surgery. In addition, Drs. Kranendonk and Obagi received a grant from the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery to study the longevity of autologous fat transplantation using 20-megahertz ultrasound. This research is being conducted with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Department of Dermatology.

Are Botox treatments safe?

Obagi Blue Peel

The Obagi Blue Peel is a customized procedure designed to significantly improve the appearance and health of your skin. Using a low concentration of the chemical trichloroacetic acid (TCA) mixed with a special blue base to slow penetration, the Obagi Blue Peel allows Dr. Kranendonk to monitor the appropriate depth to effectively remove the thin surface layers of aged and damaged skin from the face or other parts of the body. Having trained under Dr. Suzan Obagi, Dr. Kranendonk has special expertise in performing these peels. This peel is ideal for uneven pigmentation, sun damage, wrinkles, acne scars and blemishes.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a widely used nonsurgical procedure that eliminates spider and varicose veins. Using an ultrafine needle, we inject a sclerosing agent into the vein, which will cause them to dissolve and eventually disappear. Patients undergoing sclerotherapy generally experience very little discomfort and can return to work that same day. Often used as an alternative to surgery, sclerotherapy can reduce or eliminate spider and varicose veins in 1-6 treatments, depending upon the extent of the problem and patient compliance following the procedure. To help lessen the chance for bruising and to ensure the treated veins remain closed, we may have you wear heavy-duty support stockings for a short time after treatment. There is the possibility of recurrence of the veins if there is essentially a problem with the venous system.

Silk Peel Dermal Infusion

The Silk Peel goes beyond traditional crystal microdermabrasion by providing a simultaneous exfoliation and dermal infusion of topical treatment. Unlike traditional microdermabrasion, the Silk Peel is a noncrystal and utilizes a medical grade diamond tip to exfoliate the outer layer of the skin. Along with the infusion of the dermaceutical such as salicylic acid, hyaluronic acid or kojic acid, new cell growth is stimulated.
